It was Elizabeth Watson-Brown who kept Ryan. Penny Allman-Payne is the Greens senator halfway through her 6 year term, and thus not up for re-election.
Well done Guy, anointing Timmy bloody Wilson as the new unflushable turd of Oz politics. The original is still circling the bowl, awaiting the call to the septic, but there’s room for two. Mungo would be well pleased with the call.
The Greens thing is interesting - minimal change to their support, despite a bit swing to Labor, yet they're being pulled apart.
That said, someone respected I know who I never thought would vote Greens told me she didn't at the last election because [my interpretation] they got up to too much non-enviro stuff.
The extent to which the Greens vote is tree Tories should not be underestimated, not should we forget that the Teals are indistinguishable from rational Libs of days gone by.
We haven't seen a swing to the Left, just a rejection of moronic extremism and Trump - and of perceived left extremism.
I hope this unique moment can be leveraged in favour of progressive - or even left - policy - or even action - but let's not delude ourselves about the continuing de-politicised nature of the Aussie polity.
It may not be merely salmon which eroded some of Lambie's vote as she was strongly anti the AFL stadium proposition. Both these stances showed intelligence but may have alienated her support.
Whoa, Timmy is back, the bad penny which continues to show up. I remain in a quandary as to whether Wilson or James Patterson is more irksome.

I have a congenital aversion to subscriptions (burned too often) but want to make a one-off donation. How?
A difference left to progressive, the latter being a US term to cover well meaning folk who essentially prefer to leave the base alone.
If any beyond Australia crisis drives my attention it is Sudan. Sadly few others even notice it. Contrast to places less dark.
